Hungarian National Museum

(Magyar Nemzeti Múzeum) VIII, Múzeum körút.The most significant museum in Hungary, was founded in 1802 by count Ferenc Széchényi, one of the geatest aristocrats in Hungary, who donated his collection of artefacts to Hungary such as books, coins, antiques and paintings to the nation.The building was the fourth purpose-built museum in the world, it is still the most beautiful neo-classical palace in Hungary. Its exclusive collections contain historical artefacts from the Palaeolithic age in the Carpathian Basin to the present days.

 

Hungarian National Gallery, Royal Palace  (Magyar Nemzeti Galéria )  I .Szent György tér This is the largest public collection presenting the formation and development of Hungarian fine arts. Permanent exhibtions:Mediaeval and Renaissance lapidarium, Gothic wooden statues and tableaux, Late Gothic winged altars, Renaissance and Baroque Art

 

 

Museum of Fine Arts

( Szépművészeti Múzeum) XIV, Dózsa György út 41. One of Europe’s finest art collections. The building has the look of a classical temple and the interior is a shrine to past masters. It includes six collections: the Egyptian and Greek and RomanCollections, the Old Masters’ Gallery, the Prints and Drawings Collection, the Old Sculptures and the Modern Collection. Here you can see the masterpieces of Leonardo, Raphael, Giorgione, Correggio, Titian, Veronese, Dürer, Cranach, Brueghel, Rubens, El Greco, Velázquez, Murillo, Goya, Delacroix, Courbet, Manet, Monet, Cézanne...It opened in 1906. The Parliament in its millennium session of 1896 had initiated its foundation. 
 

Budapest History Museum  ( Budapesti Történeti Múzeum)

I. Szent György tér 2. Royal Palace Wing E  Permanent exhibitions: The Royal Palace of the Medieval Buda, Budapest in the Middle Ages, Budapest in the Modern Times, Prehistoric People - Ancient Cultures. It presents the 2000 year old history of the capital. During the summer time visitors can walk in the reconstructed middle-age gardens, on the castle walls and in the Buzogány Tower from where tehere is a unique panoramic view of the city.

Ethnographical Museum 

( Néprajzi Múzeum)  V. Kossuth tér 12.  Close to one million items of ethnographical collection. 

 

The Synagogue and  Jewish Museum  

It was built in 1854-59. The second largest synagogue in Europe. The
Museum which is situated is Tivadar Herzl's house of birth, present
the historical past and presents the present-day life and the
traditions of Jews
